Overview

Firecrawl for Platforms lets your platform create and manage Firecrawl API keys for your users directly from your own backend. Users start using Firecrawl without leaving your platform.
Set up Firecrawl for Platforms yourself in the Firecrawl dashboard. Any admin or member of an organization can create an integration: name it, choose an integration type, accept the agreement for that type, and copy the platform key. The key is shown once. You can mint and revoke keys later under Settings. No application or approval is needed.
There are two integration types. Both provision accounts the same way through the endpoints below, with the same platform key; they differ in who pays for the user’s usage:
  • Standard: your users pay Firecrawl. Each provisioned account keeps its own Firecrawl plan and billing and upgrades with Firecrawl directly. See Credits for provisioned accounts for what a new account starts with.
  • Gateway: your organization funds your users. Accounts your integration creates are enrolled in Gateway, so their eligible usage bills to your organization. See Gateway below.
You choose the integration type when you create the integration. It is not easy to change afterwards, so we recommend reviewing both options carefully before you accept the agreement. See the Firecrawl for Platforms page for an overview. Some partner offers include promotional credits for provisioned users; when they do, Partner Credits describes what the user receives.

Gateway

Gateway is an integration type, not a separate API. The same platform key and the same endpoints apply. What changes for a Gateway integration:
  • Accounts are created for your integration alone and are API-only, with no dashboard login of their own. A request never attaches to an existing Firecrawl account, even when the email matches one.
  • Eligible usage bills to your organization. See Credits for provisioned accounts for when a user’s own credits are used first.
  • Responses from POST /partner/v1/accounts carry a gatewayStatus field.
  • The integration accepts the Gateway version of the agreement when it is created.

Authentication

All Platforms API requests require an Authorization header with your platform key:
Platform keys are distinct from standard Firecrawl API keys. You create and revoke them under Settings > Firecrawl for Platforms in the Firecrawl dashboard.

Security Requirements

  • Server-side only: Platform keys must only be used in server-side code. Never expose a platform key in frontend code, client-side JavaScript, or mobile applications.
  • Terms of Service: Before calling POST /partner/v1/accounts, your platform must prompt the user to accept Firecrawl’s Terms of Service.

Credits for provisioned accounts

Accounts your integration creates do not carry free credits unless Firecrawl has verified your platform or you have a signed agreement with Firecrawl. Until then:
  • A Standard account starts without included credits. The user can add a payment method or pick a plan in the Firecrawl dashboard at any time.
  • A Gateway account bills every credit to your organization.
Once your platform is verified, new and existing accounts carry the Free plan’s monthly credits; for Gateway accounts those are used before your organization is billed. Verification is a manual step on Firecrawl’s side. When your integration is live, or if you are building a production application, write to partnerships@firecrawl.dev with your integration ID.

Limits

Account creation is limited per integration, both in how many accounts an integration can create and in how fast. The limits grow with your organization’s relationship with Firecrawl and never affect accounts you have already created. A repeated call for a user you have already provisioned returns the existing account and does not count toward the account limit. The address you send for a Standard account has to be one your user can receive mail at. If you reach a limit, or you are planning a production integration, write to partnerships@firecrawl.dev with your integration ID and the volume you expect. If Firecrawl suspends your integration, write to help@firecrawl.com.

Endpoints

Create user

Provisions a Firecrawl account for one of your users, identified by email, and returns its API key.

Behavior

With a Standard integration:
  • If the user does not yet have a Firecrawl account, a new user and team are created.
  • If the user already has a Firecrawl account but no team associated with your integration, a new team associated with your integration is created.
  • If the user already has a Firecrawl account and a team associated with your integration, the existing team is returned.
With a Gateway integration:
  • Every account is created for your integration alone. A request never attaches to an existing Firecrawl account, even when the email matches one. The email is stored as the account’s contact address and is not used to look accounts up.
  • Repeated calls for the same email return the same account and its API key.
If your integration includes promotional credits, they are applied once, when the account is first created.

Errors

Validate API Key

Validates a Firecrawl API key and returns the associated team name and user email address. The API key will only return as valid if it was created through your integration.

Important Notes

  • Firecrawl API keys do not have permissions or an expiry date.
  • API keys can be manually deleted by users at any time.
  • Deleted API keys are not soft-deleted. Firecrawl cannot distinguish a deleted key from one that never existed.

Get Started

Create your integration in the Firecrawl dashboard: sign in, choose Standard or Gateway, accept the agreement, and copy your platform key. The integration type is not easy to change afterwards, so please confirm your choice before accepting the agreement. Then call the endpoints above from your server. Questions about your setup? Write to help@firecrawl.com. A larger integration in mind? Write to partnerships@firecrawl.dev.

Partner program

Platforms that provision Firecrawl accounts for their users can apply to the Firecrawl Partner Program. Approved partners get a revenue share on paid usage from the users they bring, co-marketing and a listing in our partner directory, early access to new endpoints, a direct line to our team for technical support, and higher limits for their users. The program is by application, and we reply within a week. In return, partners display “Powered by Firecrawl” in their product, linking to firecrawl.dev with their ?ref=<partner> tag. Rev share applies only to new paying customers you refer after your application is approved, never retroactively. It covers each customer’s first year on self-serve plans; Scale and Enterprise plans are excluded. Every partner is reviewed and approved by our team. Apply to the Partner Program Writing about Firecrawl or linking to it? The affiliate program fits better.
